If you could create a sequel to one favorite (standalone) movie, which would it be? How would it build on the original?

I would like to see a sequel that rebirths the future, with stories about the lives of some of those who made it. How amazing would it be to see their stories, whether triumph or sorrow, projects and dreams made manifest, people loved and cherished. What were their struggles, how did they become and grow? What has become of them? The image of the girl in the red coat from the movie, has been made into a story by Roma Ligocka who survived. Here is her story:
